We recently ordered takeout from Top O’ the River in Alabama, and it was fantastic from start to finish. We got the Riverboat Special, which came with a generous half-pound fried catfish fillet, hush puppies, and a choice of sides. We chose the baked potato and also received their signature skillet cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions. Everything was packaged well and still piping hot by the time we got it home. The catfish was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was fried to perfection with a crisp, golden coating that was flavorful and not greasy at all. The cornbread was fresh and hot… as if it were served right out of the the skillet, and the sides tasted just as good as they would have in the restaurant. Portions were extremely generous for a to-go order and could have easily fed more than one person. Service was quick, friendly, and professional. The staff made sure everything was accurate and ready without any hassle. Even though we didn’t dine in, the care they put into the food and packaging made it feel like we were still getting the full experience. We’ll definitely be ordering again, and next time we may just stay and enjoy it there.

My parents and I ate here because my mother can only eat seafood. We went on Saturday, August 2nd 2025. Our server Cal, was just amazing. She was very attentive to what we needed and asked if we were doing good periodically. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because my mother went to the ladies room and there were male employees in there.... We think using the bathroom (they were in stalls). Just weirded out about that but overall, the staff were friendly and helpful! Delicious food. Didn't get a picture because we were so hungry! Definitely recommend.

So. I was on the fence about how to rate this location, coming from the east coast. I am in the area for training and this restaurant came highly recommended. As a disclaimer, I do not eat Catfish so unfortunately I cannot review the dish in which they are known for. Sorry! Parking was not an issue. They open at 5pm during the week and I arrived around 6. I was seated immediately. My server, Rebekah was great, despite having two large parties in addition to me. I ordered the fried crawfish and shrimp scampi combo with the spicy northern beans. The crawfish was delicious except they were served with cocktail sauce as opposed to a remoulade, which would’ve been a better choice. The beans were flavored well but too dry so it was difficult to finish. The shrimp were delicious, although they weren't really flavored like a scampi. But they were GOOD. The cornbread was great. It has actual corn and jalapeño, although it did not come with butter. I had to ask for it. When I was finished, I had to pay at the register. The same host who sat me, also checked me out. He was a bit distracted as he was when I first arrived. He used pleasant language but he also sat my credit card on the counter, as well as my receipt, despite the fact that I gave him everything in hand. I do feel that’s a bit rude. Over all, it was an okay experience.

As a service technician, I see a ton of different kitchens. All of these locations have stellar kitchens, some of the cleanest I've ever seen!!! The food is fresh and always delicious 😋. I highly recommend trying these folks out!!!

Our group arrived on Sunday after church service. The parking lot was full, but people were leaving out also steadily. There were a couple of larger parties waiting but seated comfortably in the wait area. We were greeted when we entered and were seated quickly. Our wait person was cordial and started with drink requests or appetizer requests. Our appetizers came out quickly, and a couple of side orders too. The menu offers many options in combination with seafood. I was hoping for fried oysters, but they weren't on the menu. We enjoyed the skillet cornbread, pickled onions, and coleslaw. Our plates came, and there was some incidents with the sides on our orders, specifically the backed potatoes. I'm very certain the potatoes were warmed over from the night before because they were not only dry and cracking, but the inside of the potatoes were crumbly. A fresh backed potatoe can be mashed and have a soft consistency. When we brought this to the attention of our wait person she dismissed us and said that we have to see the manager. So we did, but while waiting for the manager others at the table were still talking to her about missing items on their plates and she just walked away mid conversation. (Poor customer service skills). But the manager listened and offered to try to correct the orders. I asked for French fries ( hot), while others just didn't feel like the hassle even though they were paying for their food; they just sent it back or refused. One of our party mentioned that Sunday are their busiest and not to expect a perfect order( allow) for mistakes. My thought is if I'm paying for what I order, I want what I order prepared correctly. Well, we got to go plates, plated up our sides, greens, coleslaw, and what could be salvaged from our meals. It was suppose to be a birthday meal for our guest. But we just decided to let this be a learning experience, not eat at this location, and stick to the other location in Gadsden, Al. And I think the young lady that waited on us should thank God because we did still leave her tips. Having compassion on her despite her rude behavior.

First time here, was recommended to come and try to catfish. Being from the north I expected a little more creole seasoning in the food, did not really taste any with the catfish. Nice family, friendly environment, the wait staff was very attentive. Good price for the food value that you get. Order the onion rings as an appetizer and as you can see by the pictures, they came very large, but they were very good.

10/10 recommend! You definitely well worth your money. You'll leave with food to bring home. We got the World's Largest Seafood Platter. It was so good! Very much food for my husband and I and we usually eat a BUNCH! So good! The service was so good, the waiters were waiting near us waiting for us to need help.
