The girl that did our tour was very know ageable about the house and the area. She was very nice and did a good job leading us through the house. Its a very interesting house in the middle of nowhere but totally worth the visit. They do have signs know telling you how to get to the house. They do have bathrooms a small parking area and its just a very pretty and interesting place.

As hauntingly beautiful as this former plantation house is (vibe is strong here, not that "turned B&B" feel), the experience of the grounds and the structure itself paled in comparison to the historical prowess of our consummate professional docent--Julie (can I pay you to take me around surrounding historical sites too?!!) The house could probably stand a little TLC (read: funding priority) to be honest, but is still worth a visit if you are in the area, whether you are an aficionado or not.

This house is in very bad shape. I know it's old but it needs lots of tlc. There really is not much to this house either. It had 7 rooms I think. Kinda a yawn. I would not waste my time visiting if I had know all this. The tour guide was knowledgeable and one plus to the tour.

I was charged up front and then told they couldn't give me the tour after collecting the money. An employee gave us an abridged description part way through. There's not a whole lot to look at, and I'd recommend other similar historical "mansions" to visit before this one.

My wife loves visiting and learning about the history of old homes so I took her to this neat old mansion as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of our 1st date! We missed tbe entrance at first because the gps takes you to an old abandoned mobile home (beware) but we called and found the drive just up the road. The place was vacant for many years but the state of Alabama purchased it and restored it. The 2 hostess are very well versed on all the details that make this place intetesting, they are enthusiastic and accomodating, they are constantly doing research on all aspects of it and they present the facts and lore very truthfully. The rooms are furnished with some things that the early owners families have donated to the cause and other time period furnishings that the state makes available for display. The tour was very interesting and informative, we enjoyed it tremendously. If you enjoy Southern History, you will enjoy this tour!

Went to the Celtic Festival at the mansion this year. Took a tour of the building it was very interesting, the volunteers were very helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the area and the entertainment and hopefully next year it will continue.

This plantation is a frontier example. It is not Twelve Oaks...it is a real example of NW Alabama plantations of the day. The tour was one of the best I have experienced. It provides some wonderful regional history and stories. This was a wonderful experience.
