Four nights at The Outside Inn was sheer perfection for my 75th birthday celebration! All of the rooms offer something unique and all are homey and inviting. Having a kitchenette was a plus, allowing for dining in as well as dining out. The shady grass area with hammock and barbecues in the center of the property very lovely, and the pool a wonderful respite from a hot day of fun in beautiful Nevada City. The mattress and pillows were perfect for our needs. Not too hard, not too soft! The wonderful, attentive owners, Gita and her husband, live on site and thus were available for any needs we had. The beautiful bottle of red wine that they gifted me for my birthday was much appreciated! The hard work and care that they put into this property makes it shine!|Nevada City, Grass Valley and the entire region wonderful for exploration. The tiny town of Dutch Flat (restaurant opening soon in the historic hotel, plus well curated tiny history museum) a fun destination. Lola’s restaurant & River were dining highlights. Don’t miss a performance at the oldest theater in California, the Nevada Theater, with extraordinary interior wall murals. The Native American Nisenan Arts & Culture Gallery worth a visit. Empire Mine State Park offers multiple walking tours as well as extremely well done Visitor Center highlighting both the beauty that came from the gold mining money VS the horrendous, dangerous conditions of those bringing it out of the ground. |It was a true joy staying at The Outside Inn!

This is a lovingly restored classic motel from the 1940s. Very thoughtfully designed room with pleny of light, lovely decor (we stayed in the Historical room), and lots of nice touches (hooks to hang things, microwave, frig, glasses, coffee). The grounds are beautiful with a creek on one side, picnic tables, chairs for lounging. I would absolutely come back.

Adorable little gem of a hotel! We had a group of friends all staying here and the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the free coffe was much appreciated. Loved the loo mic tables and cute little courtyard. Didn’t get to use the pool ( no time) but it looked very inviting .

This is truly one of the loveliest hotel/motel experiences I have ever had. And I’ve stayed at far more expensive places, including the Ritz Carlton! I’d rather go to the Outside Inn any day! The rooms are all so individual and allow you to pick one that best suits your needs. There are also cottages and a house! It’s a very short walk to downtown Nevada City. It’s cozy and welcoming in the old fashioned sense. The couple that run it are delightful and one gets the feeling of personal care that is sadly absent from most of the corporate chain hotels. It’s relaxing, it’s conveniently located, and is refreshingly human and friendly. Can’t wait to return.

We enjoyed our time at the OutsideInn. Reasonable prices and easy walking access to downtown Nevada City. Owners were very kind. We rented one of the smaller rooms as we knew we wouldn’t be staying indoors much. Worked out great. Comfortable bed.

We rented the cabin for two nights. Upon arrival I checked in at the office where I met Gita and her husband Sham, the very pleasant owners of Outside Inn. When I opened the front door of the cabin, I immediately turned around to Sham (he accompanied us) and said, "I love it. It's so cute!" The cabin was a good size, neat and clean, with a comfortable king bed, spacious bathroom which included a sizable jacuzzi tub, and a nice little kitchen. We liked renting the cabin as there is private outdoor space separating it from the rooms. The property is close enough to Nevada City should one wish to walk to this quaint and charming historic town. We enjoyed our stay at Outside Inn and appreciated Gita and Sham's hospitality. Thank you both!

Not the Ritz or Marriott, but very homey and comfortable. Think small, quaint. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Conveniently within walking distance of downtown. Reminds me of college days in the 60s.
