This was a nice hike until I saw the fire. The trail is wide and easy to walk. You will see white-tailed deer and snakes. I am sure there are more animals, but I did not see them My hike was cut short. I saw a fire there and turned it into the fire dept. I hope they got to it in time to stop it from spreading.

The Lox Slough is one of the best kept secrets! Beautiful observation tower. Always wild animal sightings. Fishing piers. And best of all, my favorite hiking trail runs right through it. The Ocean To Lake. Maybe you can even find the 3 magical boardwalks!

Peaceful and serene. Did not see another human until I got back to the parking lot after my four mile hike. Lots of wide open spaces! Birds and gators and wild pigs in the cocoplums. Too much airplane noise but beautiful! I will come back again!

This place is not for everyone. You'll walk mostly on uneven dirt where you'll want to walk picking up your feet or there sure will be a root sticking out to remind you. But, if you enjoy the solace of nature, not as you would like it but as it is, then there's plenty of room here for a day long hike. Bring water, sun protection and snacks. Fishing is allowed as catch and release only. There is much evidence of a recent brush fire at this site. The smell still lingers, but not strongly enough to be uncomfortable. PS: There's a well kept latrine not far from the entrance. After you turn on your first left away from the walkway it's about three blocks, maybe four, away.

Very good place to hike. It probably won't be crowded. The trails/dirt road and scenery were nice but not the absolute best. There is a 10 minute paved walk each way to the pavilion (pictured), and a 30 minute walk each way on a dirt road (pictured) to an observation tower (pictured). Trail maps available at the kiosk. There is also a 20 minute route along a canal to a fishing pier.

Very cool natural area. The observation tower is about a 2.5-mile round-trip but is so worth it. This is a BIG structure, i couldn't believe it was tucked away in this unmarked area a mile back. Beautiful view from the top and the hike there is fantastic too. It's right next to the ocean to lake trail, which is fun to hike on for a bit as it is a more narrow rugged trail than the shell rock road that takes you to the observation tower. I've been twice and each time I've seen tons of wildlife. Deer both times, wild hogs and alligators. There are not many people there since it's tucked away on beeline highway with very little markings so I was very impressed with the features they have there (observation tower, fishing pier and a pavilion)

Vibes vibes vibes !!! Whoa this place is next level , feels super remote and off grid once your off sidewalks. They allow catch and release fishing , many plants and flowers provide such a lovely scent in the air throughout, comes to a lovely sighting pavilion but once you take one of their loops that’s when you really feel your out in the wild, watch your step as roots and water may at times overtake the path. Many gators 🐊 so tread with caution at every patch of water ! Didn’t make it to the observation tower. I will be back !!!!💎💎💎

Took a 5 mile journey omong the red, orange, and blue blaze. Met an amazing individual, Bee Rogers (hoping that's correct). She is one of the trail leaders and provided me amazing education and knowledge. Loved my journey but be aware good shoes is a must. Some areas can be wet. Managed to see tons of birds and spooked two deers while I was walking.
